Rover

I’ve been a Mars rover for many a year

I look like they built me with plans from IKEA

With parts that they filched from a grocery store

And I never will play the Mars Rover no more

And there’s no way, ever,

No way, never no more

Will I play the Mars Rover

No never, no more

I looked for the space race and studied the stars

And I told my controller, there’s water on Mars

I’m only a buggy, I’ll do what I must

But now I’m afraid I have bitten the dust

And there’s no way, ever,

No way, never no more

Will I play the Mars Rover

No never, no more

I told them that Mars was much more than a dive

And they played me some Gloria (‘I Will Survive’)

They say I can phone home, but I’m not E.T.

Oh what in the cosmos will happen to me?

And there’s no way, ever,

No way, never no more

Will I play the Mars Rover

No never, no more

I’ll run no more errands, my homework is done

I’m junk here forever, in the cold light of Sun

I saw little green men, but I’ll speak no more

And I’ll never play the Mars rover no more

Rover

The Mars Rover did not respond after its mandatory 45 days of silence were up. It may have been clogged by dust. It spent 14 years on Mars sending back messages: 58 times what was expected. NASA said they would keep listening. In the past it has been played 'Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go', 'Here Comes The Sun' and 'I Will Survive'.
